What is Direct Debit?
Direct Debit is instructions from you to Maritime authorizing us to collect your premium/mortgage/ loan installment from your bank account.


How does Direct Debit work?
Direct Debit is a simple, safe and convenient way to pay your premium /mortgage/ loan installment from your bank account. You simply complete our Direct Debit Authorization Form and specify the date of payment. We will verify your information with your Bankers and from then on the amount will be deducted from your account as agreed.


Is Direct Debit used for all companies within the Maritime Financial Group?
At the moment Direct Debit is only available for clients of Maritime Life (Caribbean) Limited and Fidelity Finance and Leasing Company Limited.


Is Direct Debit available for all Commercial Banks?
Yes, all major commercial Banks in Trinidad and Tobago provide this facility.


Does Direct Debit work for small amounts as well as large?
Yes, there's no limit to the value of your Direct Debit payment.


How do I set up a Direct Debit?
You can contact your Financial Advisor or come in to one of our offices or payment centers and complete our Direct Debit Authorization Form.


Will the Direct Debit payment always be on the same day every month?
Normally payments will be made on the same day each month, quarter or annually according to the payment frequency selected. If any payment due date falls on a weekend or on a public holiday your account will be debited on the next business day.


What happens if there isn't enough money in my account on the day a Direct Debit is due?
If the funds are not available in your account then the Direct Debit may be rejected and we will inform you of the reject payment. If this happens it is important to act quickly to make funds available by making a deposit to your bank account or coming in to one of our offices or payment centres.


Do I get a receipt for my Direct Debit payments?
No, receipts will not be issued while your direct debit is in effect. You will have a record of all payments on your monthly/quarterly/annual bank account statements.


How does switching bank accounts affect my Direct Debit payments?
If you have changed your bank account or Bankers you will have to complete a new Direct Debit Authorization Form.

How can I cancel my Direct Debit?
You can cancel your Direct Debit at any time by simply completing our Direct Debit Cancellation Form.

How do I get back any money paid in error?
If any payment is made in error, you should contact us immediately. A refund Cheque is usually available within three (3) working days.
